SunCompany has officially consolidated its position as a regional renewable energy holding, securing more than USD 15 million in investment to accelerate the development of hybrid energy projects—solar plus storage—across the Caribbean and Central America.
The group brings together SunColombia, Dispower, Sunwa Technologies, and SunCompany International under a single holding structure designed to integrate energy generation, asset operation, technological innovation, and international expansion.
The launch comes at a pivotal moment. According to the International Energy Agency, global energy demand is expected to triple over the next 30 years, while hybrid solutions combining solar power and battery storage are emerging as the most efficient pathway to ensure continuity, stability, and quality of energy supply across the region.
An Integrated Model for a New Energy Era
SunCompany operates as an integrated holding composed of four complementary companies:
- SunColombia, focused on energy project engineering and construction
- Dispower, an operator of energy solutions in Non-Interconnected Zones (NIZ)
- Sunwa Technologies, dedicated to clean technology innovation and energy intelligence
- SunCompany International, responsible for regional expansion across the Caribbean
This model combines technology, social impact, and financial solutions to deliver reliable, profitable, and sustainable projects for companies, communities, and governments. The first phase of expansion includes operations in Guyana and the Dominican Republic, with upcoming market entry planned for Panama, Ecuador, and Peru.
Purpose-Driven Leadership
According to Juan Diego Gómez, CEO of SunCompany:
“With SunCompany, we are strengthening our operations in Colombia and opening a new chapter as a multi-Latin renewable energy company. Our purpose is to deliver clean energy solutions at greater scale, with increased diversification and innovation capacity. Over the next two years, we project investments of USD 300 million in new renewable energy projects across the region, while generating qualified employment and developing local talent.”
Regional Expansion and Market Focus
The Caribbean faces significant challenges in energy reliability and quality due to its heavy dependence on fossil fuels. As a result, SunCompany has prioritized expansion in the Dominican Republic, Guyana, and Central America, with a portfolio that includes hybrid solar-plus-storage projects, energy communities in non-interconnected zones, solar + cooling as a service solutions, and mid- to large-scale developments.
In Colombia, the group maintains national leadership with On-Grid and Off-Grid solutions serving both large industries and rural, remote communities.
Proven Results and Capabilities
- 58 MW of installed solar projects in Colombia—enough to supply over 60,000 homes annually
- 58 MWh of integrated battery storage systems—pioneers in energy storage nationwide
- Presence in all 32 Colombian departments—the only energy company with full national coverage
- Strategic partnerships with Ecopetrol, ISA, Gensa, Grupo Energía Bogotá, Enel, EPM, and Emcali

The creation of the holding coincides with the successful closing of its Series B funding round, validating the business model and strengthening SunCompany’s regional positioning. Strategic investors include Grupo Bancolombia (through its Foundation and Corporate Venture Capital unit), as well as SEAF Colombia and Caribbean funds. The round includes USD 9.8 million in equity for international expansion, USD 5 million in project debt financing, and COP 20 billion in local funding for innovation and development.
